Statement of Faith

We Believe:

The Scriptures are true, authoritative, and sufficient, and from this foundation flow our convictions about God, humanity, salvation, the church, and the life we are called to live in Christ.

❋ Scripture

Authoritative & Sufficient
We believe the Scriptures are true, authoritative, and sufficient, revealing God’s character, His will, and His purposes for humanity.

❋ God

One God, Three Persons
We believe there is one true God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—distinct in person, united in essence.

❋ Salvation

Found in Christ Alone
We believe salvation, transformation, and restoration are available only through the work of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, by God’s will alone.

❋ The Church

The Body of Christ
We believe the church is the Body of Jesus Christ, called to unity in faith and love, to live out and share the gospel, and to make disciples.

Our Full Statement of Faith.

Below is our complete Statement of Faith, outlining the core beliefs that guide our teaching, our community, and the life we are called to live in Christ.

There is only one true God.

The Person of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit is God. The Father is neither the Son nor the Holy Spirit. The Son is neither the Father nor the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is neither the Father nor the Son.

GOD

All humanity, Christ excluded, by birth and action, are sinners.

The deserved penalty for sin is death, both physical and spiritual.

HUMANITY + SIN

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, was born of a virgin, and is both fully God and fully human.

Jesus Christ died as our substitute to pay the penalty for our sin.

Jesus Christ physically rose from the dead following His crucifixion and burial.

Jesus Christ physically ascended into heaven.

JESUS CHRIST

Salvation, transformation, and restoration are only available by God’s will through the work of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Only by trusting in the person and work of Jesus Christ alone can we be reconciled to God and, through relationship, experience true life and joy.

SALVATION

There is a resurrection of the dead. Those who trust in Jesus Christ alone will be raised to an eternal life of relationship with God. Those who have not trusted in Jesus Christ will experience eternal separation from God.

RESURRECTION + ETERNITY

The church is the Body of Jesus Christ made up of all Christ-followers around the world today and throughout history.

The church body is to be unified in faith and love, living by and sharing the gospel message and making disciples of all peoples according to the Scriptures.

THE CHURCH

BAPTISM

Baptism is not salvation, rather, a physical sign to the world about the newness of life in Christ.

God created the unique covenant of marriage as a life-long commitment between one man and one woman, as a physical representation of the spiritual marriage and perfect relationship between the church and Christ.

MARRIAGE

These beliefs are the foundation of our community and do not provide grounds for bigotry, bullying, or hate. The Gathering House firmly believes that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity, regardless of their lifestyle.

Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated as sinful and are not in accordance with the Scriptures nor the doctrines of the Church.

Truth without love is brutality and love without truth is hypocrisy.
